The Esoteric Concentration focuses on the mystic teachings of the Sufi path. The teachings are based on those of our murshid, Hazrat Inayat Khan, whose core message was the unity of all religions: “There is one God and one truth, one religion and one mysticism.”
There are many themes and topics that thread through these teachings, including breath, prayer, light, intuition and spiritual guidance, concentration, contemplation, and realization. Classes are offered at many of the region’s centers.
Retreats are also part of the Esoteric Concentration, and there are a number of retreat guides in the Northeast Region who offer personal retreats to both mureeds and non-mureeds. There are also trainings that are offered, such as Coordinator Training, as well as regional workshops and retreats. As an initiate, working with a guide is an important part of one’s training. The goal of the initiate is to “discover that inner path which leads to the fulfillment of one’s life purpose, which is Illumination.”
