We now offer three different types of online events. Twice a month the Portland Sufi Center offers and online meditation class on Monday nights at 7:45. Once a month, the Dances of Universal Peace happen in Portland on Sunday afternoons. And weekly (some exceptions) there is a Universal Worship service at 6pm. We are updating our website to reflect the current situation. All events are currently online until the pandemic has reduced its spread. There are twice monthly classes offered online on the first and third Mondays of the month starting at 7:45 (virtual doors open at 7:30 for pre-class fellowship). There is a Healing Service once a month – contact Amina at aminaashla@msn.com if interested in participating, or if you would like your name places on the healing list. We are hoping to soon have Universal Worship services online.

Greetings. Starting is September, 2020, we will be offering a number of classes online each month on Zoom, as well as a one day retreat on September 26th.

Coming up soon, we have the Gathering in Light, a day-long event with Sufi teachers from around the region. Please click on Gathering in Light link, above, for more info. Then in late April, Naima and Aqil Brown will be leading a weekend silent retreat in Alfred, Maine. Please click on the 2020 Naima and Aqil Brown link above for more info. We hope to have Shakur Johnson back for the Third Annual Ziraat Seminar in June of 2020, and a daylong retreat in September, 2020 along with our annual meeting. We look forward to seeing you at any and all of these events.

What a year its been, with many wonderful events. We started out the year with a Gathering In Light in South Berwick, ME in February, which was well attended, then the 2nd Anual Ziraat Seminar in Meredith, NH in late June. August saw us once again having our Annual Sufi Summer Camp in Jacksonville. VT among the splendor of the Green Mountains of Vermont. And in September, we had a special Retreat led by Rabia and Kamilla in Concord, NH.  Please check the calendar for upcoming events or ongoing classes or Dances.

Back in the early 1990’s, we started an annual gathering at Siraj Paletta’s place in Chester. Over the years individuals and families came, experiences were shared, meditations and music, dances and darshan happened. Siraj moved away so we found a new location, and in the quest for a better place, we tried out five (that I am aware of) different locations, until settling on the wonderful Mello’s Retreat center in the rolling hills of the Green Mountains in southern Vermont. This year, on August 10-12, we will gather for (approximately) the 25th time for Universal Worship, Dances of Universal Peace, morning Meditations, Friday night Seder, as well as time to hang out with friends, and enjoy the cooking of Amina Silk, who is cooking for us this year. Four of us from the region participated in the recent “Emergent Leaders Training” program at Astana, the Headquarters of the Inayati Order in Richmond, Virginia. Around 40 representatives and coordinators from around the country gathered with Pir Zia and other senior teachers Taj Inayat, Gayan Macher and Naima Brown to deepen our attunements and get further training about guidance and various other duties of a Representative or Coordinator.

Our Annual Regional Gathering and Retreat with Naima Khabira Brown will be held again in Franconia, NH on September 29th and 30th. More information will be forthcoming in the summer

Welome to our Sufi Order International’s Northeast Regional Website!   Our Northeast Region includes Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.  We hope that you will find the information here helpful in locating Sufi Centers within the Region and activities that may be of interest within our different areas of Concentration.We have centers in each of these states and esoteric classes are offered on a regular basis as well as regular offerings of the Dances of Universal Peace.  There is also information about Sufism and our own Sufi Order International as well as a link to that and other relevant websites.

We have a Regional Council which meets monthly.  The Council is responsible for setting up various Regional events each year, including an Annual Meeting and Retreat, as well as offering other trainings and retreats within the Region.

We are here to serve you and to help build Community among the Sufis in our Region through the various activities that are offered through the 5 Concentrations: Esoteric, Healing, Kinship, Universal Worship, Ziraat and Dances of Universal Peace, as well as through other regional or local workshops, retreat and our annual Summer Camp.
